Jennifer Check

This season Jennifer Check makes her debut with Nederlandse Opera as Sirin in The Legend of the Invisible City of Kitezh, returns to the Metropolitan Opera for Berta in Il barbiere di Siviglia, and sings Verdi’s Requiem with the Reno Philharmonic. She has recently sung Iphigenie in Gluck’s Iphigénie en Tauride at Palau de les Artes Reina Sofía in Valencia, Norma with both Palm Beach Opera and Opera Company of Philadelphia, Madame Lidoine in Dialogues of the Carmelites at Austin Lyric Opera, Lady Billows in Albert Herring for Castleton Festival, and both Chrystothemis and the Fifth Maid in Elektra with Tokyo Opera Nomori.  Ms. Check’s past appearances with the Metropolitan Opera include Liù in Turandot, Voce dal Ciel in Don Carlo, Nella in Gianni Schicchi, The High Priestess in Aida, and Marianna in Der Rosenkavalier. She has also performed with the New Jersey Symphony, the Utah Symphony, Greensboro Symphony Orchestra, and the Phoenix Symphony.

Ms. Check is an alumnus of The Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia, where she performed Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte. She received a Bachelor of Music Degree in Voice Performance from Westminster Choir College. Ms. Check has won awards from the Loren L. Zachary Society, Licia Albanese-Puccini Foundation, Oratorio Society of New York, Liederkranz Foundation, and Mario Lanza Scholarship Auditions in addition to a Sara Tucker Study Grant from the Richard Tucker Foundation, the Zarzuela Prize in Placido Domingo’s Operalia Competition, and the Leonie Rysanek memorial prize from the George London Foundation.
